Jazz Pianist takayuki yagi web

Born in Kyoto, he first became interested in Jazz when he heard Jimmy Smith play the organ. Studying under the Jazz-organist Ushio SAKAI, he formally begins Jazz.
Later, changing instruments to the piano, he began performances at local jazz clubs with his trio group.
He went on to study in New York under Walter Bishop Jr., Ronnie Mathews, Barry Harris, Norman Simmons, and Frank Hewitt. Through experiencing many sessions with various musicians, his music became even deeper.
He participated in a Japan-USA exchange program called Artist in residence. And then, he studied under the composer Frederick Tillis.
He won the 24th Asakusa Jazz Contest in the solo section.
With a flavor of Blues and Bebop, a unified sound of traditional and contemporary music, and a speedy beat and lyricism, he is inventing his own sound of music.
